It's been an unusually hot summer for us on the East Coast as well.

Close to 20 days in 90+ weather since June 1st. We are supposed to get our fair share of thunderstorms this weekend though.

I for one am looking forward to the display :-)

Be aware that criminality has gone up due to loads of illegal immigrants from the Balkans, Afganistan and Pakistan. A Greek would not steal from a sleeping tourist, but illegal immigrants would, since they cannot be traced in any police system. This may sound racist, but it's not; it's a fact. Ask any local Greek you like.
